I was born and schooled in Pietermaritzburg, and studied Public Relations. In 1997 I worked/travelled around Europe, Scotland and England and then spent three years in the bush before moving back to Durban to start my own Event company which I ran for 6 years. I then got into the commercial property Auction industry until 2012 when I started the ‘Blue Sky Society Trust’, my NPO that raises money for humanitarian and conservation projects. The Elephant Ignite Expedition is my main project for 2016.
In 2012 I did the Put Foot Rally where we drove 7917km in 20 days through 8 countries, our team the “pink panthers” raised the most money out of 200 travellers. I have worked and travelled with Kingsley Holgate for 2013/2014 and was a part of the “Izintaba Zubombo”, “In the Footsteps of Joseph Thomson” and the “Cape Union Mart Trans-Frontier” Expeditions. I have organised and lead the D-Tours Africa Expedition in 2014, where we had 70 overseas guests and raised 1.8 million for rhino conservation.
I started talking and dreaming about doing an elephant expedition in 2012. I have always wanted to travel up to Kenya and I just LOVE elephants and I wanted to do something special to make a difference for Elephants and to say thank you to the incredible people on the ground that protect them. Sometimes often unsung hero’s get overlooked and its time for us to pay tribute to them and these majestic animals.
